Shell Oil Biofuel Blending - Getting Biofuels to Market
Customer: Shell Oil
Project Location:Seattle WA, Portland OR, others
National and local legislation have set targets for biofuel usage which has resulted in a rapid proliferation of biofuels around the world. In the United States, for example, biofuels mandates exist in numerous states and have been supported federally by the Energy Independence & Security Act of 2007 and updates to the Renewable Fuel Standard.
Shell Oil Products US commissioned Harris Group to engineer upgrades at their Seattle and Portland distribution terminals to accommodate the blending of ethanol and biodiesel into traditional petroleum fuels to meet state mandates. These multi-discipline projects required a thorough understanding of biofuel blending requirements and Harris Group had the team.
Harris Group has subsequently been contracted by a Shell affiliate to provide similar engineering services in locations throughout the southeastern United States, has participated in an RFP from Shell Canada Products, and entered into discussions regarding facilities in Guatemala.
