Consulting engineering firm Harris Group Inc. maintained its fifth ranking among design firms serving pulp and paper mills according to Engineering News-Record's "The Top 500 Design Firm Sourcebook 2002" (July 2002). With $19.3 million in revenue from its forest industries customers, Harris Group was the only pure design firm (no construction services) listed in the top ten.
John Logsdon, senior vice president, forest industries, said, "Our competitors are bigger firms, no doubt about it. Harris Group customers get something different, however – highly responsive service, better management of small- and medium-sized projects, and unbiased owner's engineering services."
Harris Group's forest industries business unit has multiple offices in the Midwest, Northwest and Southeast – the industry's three largest geographic regions. It provides full-service engineering and design, process and project management consulting, owner's engineering and due diligence.
Headquartered in Seattle, Harris Group was also ranked 23rd in industrial process (manufacturing) and 22nd in fossil fuel (power) by ENR. Company revenues in 2001 were $51.9 million.
