Project Location: Pacific Northwest

HGI recently completed the No.2 Paper Machine headbox replacement project. The headbox is a new “consistency profiling” type headbox. The replacement outage lasted 6 days, with only a few hours to startup and reach stabilization. The machine was producing saleable grades of paper after 12 hours of tuning.

HGI provided design engineering, construction supervision, pre-startup inspection and commissioning services. The headbox is 200” wide and has 66 individual basis weight profiling zones that are controlled by a paper quality measurement and control system. The machine is a fourdriner type with a design speed of 3000FPM. This machine produces 20 – 36# bond paper for use in specialty grades.
