Harris Group is seeking an Electrical Engineer to work in our Portland office. The preferred candidate is a licensed Professional Electrical Engineer in the State of Oregon with five to ten years of experience in the design of power and control systems for manufacturing and industrial facilities. This individual will be assigned to the Industrial Manufacturing Business Unit group, with projects ranging over a variety of processes in an array of industries.
Key Responsibilities:
• Project Development –power studies, proposals, cost estimates and schedules
• Engineering Design – equipment specifications and procurement; power distribution, grounding, lighting, control, building and fire systems design; engineering calculations and coordination with other engineering disciplines
• Discipline Lead (Project Level) – develop and maintain design budgets/schedules, direct electrical designers, prepare reports and provide quality checks for small to medium sized projects
• Construction Support – engineering change control; office/site field support and participate in factory acceptance tests, system commissioning and start-up
Desired Qualifications:
• BS degree from an accredited college or university (MS degree a plus)
• 5 to 10 years of applicable facility or light industrial experience
• Ability to implement small to medium sized projects (new and retrofit) as a design engineer and discipline lead
• Proven experience as design engineer, preferably in the consulting arena
• Strong communication skills
• Experience with medium and low voltage power distribution
• Experience in load flow, short circuit, protective device coordination and arc flash power studies, and proficiency with software for power study analysis [EasyPower, SKM, EDSA, ETAP or similar]
• Experience with lighting calculations and lighting and grounding design
• Experience with VFD’s; motor control; and security, fire and building automation systems
• Experience with hazardous area classification and electrical design
• Knowledge of NEC, ANSI, and IEEE codes and standards, and state administrative and energy codes
Additional Qualifications and Experience:
• Licensed Professional Electrical Engineer in the State of Washington
• PLC and process automation systems
